The Premier League 2015 16 is a four-way contest

Thursday, August 20, 2015

The Premier League is starting and Manchester City, Manchester United and Arsenal want to find the key to overcome the current champion, José Mourinho’s Chelsea.

Manchester City and Manchester United “paying” to win the title

Year after year the managers in the Premier League expect an open competition, with four or five candidates to win it. In the past decade the League title has been won by the biggest favourites: Manchester United, Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City.In last year’s English league, José Mourinho’s team got their fifth championship three rounds before the end, with a significant advantage over their closest rivals: Manchester City, Arsenal and Manchester United. Although they got the two national titles and the Capital One Cup, the blue team’s game was branded as boring. But the fact is that Chelsea, led by Diego Costa
and Cesc Fábregas, didn’t fail in the decisive moments and overcame the rest of the candidates for the title, who were unable to catch up with them at the end of the season. Chelsea won’t lower their guard and will fight to keep the Premier League title and win the Champions League after the blow they suffered when they were defeated by PSG.
However, the big investments by their rivals have frightened Mourinho who hasn’t got the signings he requested to reinforce his squad. Chelsea is one of the Premier League clubs who have invested the least in new players. The blue team was quick to sign up Begovic after Cech went to Arsenal and to get the transfer of Radamel Falcao. Despite the rumours about new signings, among them Witsel and Arda Turan, they never materialized.
However, Manchester City has paid 69 millions to hire Sterling; Van Gaal’s Red Devils have also made a move with the acquisition of Schweinsteiger, Depay, Darmian and Schneiderlin; and Liverpool has paid 68 million euros to get Roberto Firmino and Christian Benteke.

Is Liverpool the weakest among the top teams in English football?

Last year Manchester United and Liverpool started the Premier League with great expectations but found an unstoppable Chelsea who wasn’t defeated until December. Arsène Wenger’s Gunners face the start of the League with optimism and the hope of neutralizing Chelsea. Taking the league trophy from their neighbour would give a grand finale to this season.

Although some say that Arsenal are not ready yet to win the Premier League, they should be closer to the highest positions in the table than last year. The key is to find the way to defeat Chelsea, their bête noire.

Few teams are as good as Arsenal when they play their one-touch football and show their authority and experience in the pitch of Emirates Stadium. Sometimes, their overconfidence plays dirty trick on them but they promise to give a better image with Cech as goalkeeper and the forward Alexis Sánchez. Liverpool, who finished in the sixth position last year, hope to impose their authority and climb the ladder in the league table to face the four top teams.

High voltage duels in the Premier League 2015-2016

To start with, we will see a clash between Manchester City and Chelsea in Ethiad Stadium on the second round. A week after that, Arsenal will make things difficult for Liverpool at the Londoners’ home. Two of the big matches of the start of the League will be Chelsea-Arsenal and Arsenal-Manchester United, on the 6th and 8th rounds respectively.

Everyone will want tickets for the super derby Manchester United vs Manchester City in Old Trafford, a big match between two titans that will guarantee goals, spectacle and intensity. The duel between Manchester United and Chelsea in “The Theatre of Dreams” at the end of December will also be outstanding. Apart from giving our attention to the magnificent four, we’ll see what other teams, like Tottenham and Southampton, are capable of.
