Liga BBVA 2015-2016: Barça and Madrid getting ready to start

Wednesday, August 19, 2015

Real Madrid and Barça, about to finish their international pre-season tour, are getting ready to face the Liga BBVA 2015-2016.

A pre-season loaded with doubts

Barça has had several consecutive defeats in the last friendly matches, showing little scoring efficiency and problems in defence. The start hasn’t been good regarding scores and people are talking about “messidependence” and mistakes or lack of intensity of Barcelona’s defence.

Winning the triplete, three trophies (Liga BBVA, Copa del Rey and Champions League), means that Barça will have a busy schedule and will play five matches in seventeen days.

Luis Enrique’s men look askance at the UEFA Super Cup against Sevilla, the first fixture this season and the real test to check the state of fitness of Barcelona’s players on their way towards the longed-for “sextete” (six trophies).

Without margin for error, Barça may think that a change of thinking is vital and could add Neymar and almighty Messi in extremis. It seems that the current champions of the Spanish League will have to commend themselves to the god of football to improve their play and results to face their first match in the official competitions.

The club’s fans will have to wait until January to see the debut of the new acquisitions: Aleix Vidal and Arda Turan.

Barça wants to regain the League title

There will be no rest in this start of season. With little time to recover, Barça will go to San Mamés to play the first leg match of the Spanish Super Cup against Athletic de Bilbao, their first opponent in Liga BBVA 2015-2016 in Athletic’s home.

Barça and Athletic will play each other up to three times during August, three important duels preceding the visit of theCatalan team to Vicente Calderon on the third round of the League. The matches between FC Barcelona and Atlético de Madrid are among the most exciting every season, where the Catalans and the Madrileños have offered goals and spectacle for years.

On the penultimate round, FC Barcelona and Espanyol will play a decisive derby in Camp Nou. The anticipated match against Real Madrid will be on November 8 in Santiago Bernabéu, one the most attractive football fixtures around the world whose tickets are already on sale.

‘Lucho’ wants his men ready from the start, avoiding mistakes and showing good play. In his second year with Barça, he must show that the Catalan team is strong enough and eager to get titles.

FC Barcelona squad is joining forces to win the two finals of Super Cup and end the year as leader of the Spanish League.

Real Madrid to assault the League

Real Madrid’s result of the pre-season has been better than Barcelona’s. Although a lot of things must be improved, they have
scored all kinds of goals before the League starts.

Their schedule is not as busy as Barça’s and during August we’ll see the great performance of players like Isco and Jesé Rodríguez, who are fighting to be in the team sheet. This summer we haven’t seen outstanding signings since Real Madrid has signed up Danilo and taken back Lucas Vázquez, Casemiro, Cheryshev and Kiko Casilla. The acquisitions for this season are already known, from the pools of young players of the team.

With Rafa Benítez as manager, Real Madrid want to take the League title from Barça. To have a good start, they will have to win the first three rounds against Sporting, Betis and Espanyol. Resorting to their good performance last season, Málaga will try to surprise Real Madrid with a mix of youth and nerve.

One of the most exciting matches before the classic Madrid-Barça may be the fixture with Atlético de Madrid. Atléticos, who seem to know Madrid’s weaknesses, will take advantage of playing at home to get the three points. In the 14th, 16th, and 18th rounds, Cristiano Ronaldo and Bale’s team will face Getafe, Rayo and Valencia.

It’s not only Atlético de Madrid and Valencia who will be on the hunt for Real Madrid and Barça, Sevilla and Villarreal also want to face the big ones and put an end to the thinking that only two teams can fight for the title.
