Carolina Hurricanes

Being forced to play in a different arena while their's was being built, the Carolina Hurricanes struggled big time to draw fans, and adapt to the new area. The former Whalers moved into Raleigh, North Carolina and changed their name to be officially known as the Hurricanes, in the year 1997. A couple of solid seasons helped them win points in the public opinion, with Arturs Irbe as their star player (1997-2002). In the 2001 season, for the southeast division, they won a dramatic match against the New Jersey Devils: Arturs Irbe was benched, and Kevin Weekees came forth. It would be him who brought the hockey fan's attention to the Carolina Hurricanes. They returned to the spotlight with their first Stanley Cup, during the 2005-06 season. Another Cup may come any time, so buy Carolina Hurricanes hockey tickets.
